iCS2.0 - Charge Assist. How does it work?

Modified on Wed, 13 Sep, 2023 at 12:23 PM

The charge assist app allows iCS charge stations to take payment for charge sessions from members of the public.

What will it cost a driver?

  • Each charge station determines the cost per kWh that will be charged.  This information will be visible in the app when the station is selected.
  • In addition to the cost per kWh, for each charging session a £1.50 connection fee is added.

How are the payments taken?

  • Charge assist uses STRIPE to take payment.
  • An initial £30 is taken as a ‘pre-authorisation’
  • The charge session then takes place then the cost of the session is calculated
  • The final transaction is a refund based on £30 minus the cost of the charge session or £30 plus the balance if more than £30.

What happens to my payment if a charge session fails to start?

  • The £30 pre-authorisation is refunded
  • The £1.50 connection fee is not taken

What happens to my payment if a charge session stops before any electricity is used?

  • The £30 pre-authorisation is refunded
  • The £1.50 connection fee is not taken

How long do refunds take to appear back in my account?

  • This depends on your bank but typically 1-2 days maximum

What do I do if my refund doesn’t appear after 2 days?

  • Please contact us on this portal and we will investigate immediately.
